ODDISEE - BELONG TO THE WORLD (VIDEO)

Yes!!! I personally haven't been that excited about a music video since "Close Your Eyes (And Count To Fuck)" by Run the Jewels and Zack de la Rocha came out. Not only is "Belong To The World" a track so good to be featured on 2 separate Bassment FM playlists/mixes (Summer Soundtrack I & Hip Hop Selection IX). Not only is "The Good Fight" one of the best albums of 2015 (and probably the decade, the century, etc.) and Oddisee one of the most skilled rappers/producers active today, "Belong To The World" in its essence is a statement that should be universally accepted, acclaimed and widespread.

""Belong to the World" is a song about making a transition from feeling like I didn't fit in to anything, into understanding we belong to everything. It is a song about understanding that the world is bigger than the small things we want to be a part of." - Oddisee

The track is an important chapter on "The Good Fight" as the album radiates the kind of inspiration and positive energy that is vital for us as human beings to operate. In the tone set by this song, Oddisee refrains from opposing sides (while still accepting the humane fact that we all feel contradicted at times, often forced to choose sides, despite our uncertainty - as these situations help us grow and develop) as he creates and walks his own path:

"I'm just trying to break out the mould
Trying to do the opposite of everything that I'm told
Try to put me in a box, already in a globe
So I don't get offended by the thinking of the old"

Oddisee knows very well how easy it is to become disconnected from the world, from our environment and the feeling of not fitting in to anywhere. This song is a reminder that you are the world and the world is you. Don't give up on yourself. Keep on fighting the good fight.
