Why: Arguably the best hip hop record label active today, Mello Music Group is home to a wide array of artists such as L'Orange, Apollo Brown, Oddisee, Verbal Kent, Ras Kass, Pete Rock, Finale, Rapper Big Pooh, Open Mike Eagle, etc, etc. Definitely not one to sleep on.

2. Mass Appeal Records
Why: Nas' record label, home to artists such as Run The Jewels, Gangrene, Fashawn, Dave East and more.

3. Stones Throw Records
Why: Peanut Butter Wolf and his record label Stones Throw Records has been putting out quality music since 1996 and it seems like they are not planning to stop any time soon. Home to artists such as Knxwledge, Homeboy Sandman, Guilty Simpson, Madlib and many more.

4. Rhymesayers Entertainment
Why: They've been putting out great hip hop since 1995. Artists include Atmosphere, Aesop Rock, deM atlaS, Dilated Peoples, Prof, MF DOOM & many more.

5. TopDawgEnt
Why: Another record label on our list, Top Dawg Entertainment is home to high-profile artists such as Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and more.

6. Hellfyre Club
Why: Label/home for artists such as Open Mike Eagle, Anderson .Paak, milo, Busdriver, Nocando and more.

7. Redefinition Records
Why: Independent record label, home to Damu The Fudgemunk, DJ EFN, K-Def and others.

8. Chinese Man
Why: Chinese Man is a French hip hop group. At the same time, Chinese Man Records is home to a whole bunch of artists, all of whom are as dope as the Chinese Man himself. These artists include Scratch Bandits Crew, Taiwan MC, Deluxe and others.

9. Bishop Nehru
Why: Bishop Nehru is a young and extremely talented MC+producer from New York. He has already done great things and I expect more greatness from him in 2016.

10. Kaytranada

11. All Flows Reach Out
Why: I hadn't heard of All Flows Reach Out (or A-F-R-O) until his "Tales From The Basement" mixtape dropped late 2015. Ever since then, I can't wait to hear more from him.

Why: Hurt Everybody is a hip hop group from Chicago. They sound uber fresh. Also, they insane...

14. Cookin' Soul
Why: Cookin' Soul are a duo of hip hop producers from Spain and they make some of the illest beats out there today. See also: Cookin' Soul Mix by Bassment FM.
